Dirty paws, Purring, Barking, yawning, meowing.. Whats not to love. I have been wanting to get myself a puppy and a kitty for a long time now and I cannot wait. I think that I am growing slightly impatient. Braden might come home to find some new household members.....

I have been dancing in the lounge!
I wanted to create some labels for my quilts and after surfing the net I found many different options. Printing on a home inkjet printer seemed to be the most popular, however I wanted my labels to be waterproof (Call me picky) so I kept on searching... Before my partner knew what I was up to I had already created and ordered some labels for my self.. They arrived in the post today :)

Table Runner Completed at last
OK, So I had finished this a while ago but had to keep it hidden, as I decided to give it to my Aunty. She came down last weekend so after making a neat tag for it I bundled it up and gave it to her. She was rather surprised and she seemed to love it. It was a great feeling. I will have to make more table runners soon.
Here is the finished project below....

So the last time I posted.....
Was a long time ago now EEk! how the time flys. I never got around to finishing that quilt.... I must have cut out hundreds of tiny triangles though then I got distracted with moving house... Finishing off a table runner that was a surprise gift for my aunty and I'm sure there are many more excuses, but tomorrow is a new day.

Single Bed Quilt Top
Finished my First Quilt! -"Gypsy in the woods"
I have finished my March goal for "A lovely Year of Finishes"! Sewing the quilt which measures 85" x 85" on my little sewing machine was a huge mission. I have learnt sooooo much. I was worried a few times during the project that I was being a bit to ambitious, as it has been my first sewing project and I used no pattern. I am extremely proud of myself. I now know how to operate a sewing machine!! But I am aware that there is plenty more for me to learn.
My finished project:-Front with part of the back showing.
Thanks again to Katherine and Isabel without you this quilt would not be what it is today :)

Week 3..
Block 3. Another Week another block. This block took me a very long time! I have been stitching everywhere, in the car, at work, outside, inside I would hate to figure out how many hours I spent stitching this block. Lucky it was just the first initial of my name :)
At work beside a bowl of yummy grapes! -thanks Jenny.
Can anybody guess what the next block is going to be?

A New Project....
Because I am new to both sewing and quilting I decided to start a Tuesday night beginners class at The Cloth Shop which runs for six weeks. I missed the first class as I had my day mixed up and nearly forgot to go yesterday! So I sprinted to my scrappy fabric pile and picked a handful of blue fabric before heading out of the door with my sewing machine.
Here is what I created last night!
I might get the nerve to sew more points now. The idea of sewing triangles used to freak me out.

Week Two..
Block two. It's another week so I have been busy finishing my second Block for my blue-work quilt! This block was inspired from a block by Nova. I drew a picture of my own embroidery hoop then added Braden and my first initials onto it :)
And I have already started stitching my next block!

A Lovely Year of Finishes
I have made my first link up on Blogger and joined "A lovely Year of Finishes" Hopefully it will keep me focused so that I finish the projects that I start. For my March goal I would like to finish sewing my first quilt together and get its binding finished. Wish me luck :)
Card-making In a Hurry
I had a birthday catch me by surprise and I had to make up a birthday card quickly with my scraps and limited supplies. I couldn't even find my scissors or craft knives so... I used my quilting fabric cutter :0
And used these....
-Random left over scraps of paper
-Card and envelope: Ooh La la (My Mind's Eye)
-Stampin Up Stamps:
Young Vermillion (bird)
Picture this (Happy Bird day)
-Ink pad: Kaiser Craft Lilac
-Double sided tape
-Quilting ruler and Cutter
(I ruffled the edges with the ruler)

Embroidery Quilt
After browsing "Google" and stumbling upon this delightful redwork personalized quilt I had to create my own. Here is another link which offers further information about Redwork quilts and some closeup designs.
I drew the picture onto the fabric using a Crayola washable marker, which I purchased from Warehouse Stationery in a pack of 12. I found that they wash out easily in the washing machine :)
The plan is to complete a square a week so keep posted this project is going to take a while :)

First Quilt Ever! continued
I completed the front and the back of the quilt a while ago but being my first quilt I was scared to sew the front, back and middle together without having an experienced helper. Katherine came to my rescue and told me that I would have to pin the quilt together starting from the middle of the quilt and working my way out to the edge. This process required a lot of pins and I ended up buying four packets!

Hobbit Sword Tag Description
Thousands of years before Sauron attempted to overpower
Middle Earth by forging one ring of power, a being that was once the greatest
immortal spirit who helped forge the world itself was already polluting the
lands with evil.
The most ancient myths suggest Melkor was builiding in
secret one sword to rule them all - an idea that Sauron later merely copied
albeit with rings of power. This sword ‘Bubblelin’ was found hidden in the deepest
depths of a secret cave system, and has now been found. It was originally
forged to bubbleorise elves, that is to spectacularly vaporise or splatter
hosts of powerful elves. The most powerful elves were said to bubbleorise in
such a spectular fashion, that travelling companies of dwarves would often stop
in awe and wonder. Modern Elvish
scholars have suggested Melkor abandand the final construction steps necessary
to give the sword its full power. Likely because Melkor had captured a number
of Elves before the Valar attacked him, and tortured and corrupted them,
breeding the first Orcs - which he considered his ultimate war tool.
During the ensuing War of Wrath, Beleriand and much of the
north of Middle-earth was destroyed and reshaped. In the end, Morgoth was
utterly defeated, and his armies were almost entirely slaughtered.

Summer and Scarves
What a beautiful day! I completed making some scarves out of two pieces of fabric, then I decided to have a wee photo shoot of my creations.
From this:
To these:
The scarfs were very easy to make just cut and machine sew!
Whilst I was having fun taking my photos I noticed this beautiful dragonfly beside me,
and then I noticed the bumble bee that was collecting pollen :)
Don't you just love summer!

A New Quilt!
I have not finished sewing my first quilt yet but whilst I wait to figure out how to properly sew the front and back together, I have started a new quilt. While playing with some fabric pieces, I had cut out I noticed an abstract heart and had to sew it together... I might use it on the back.
Hobbit Sword Christmas Gift
My brother kept on asking us to get him a hobbit sword for christmas. However, paying for the real deal was not going to happen so I started looking around the toy stores and found this bubble sword at Whitcoulls for a good price :)
It was not a hobbit sword though, so I copied some hobbit images from the internet and used Adobe Photoshop to create a tag. On the back I created a story of the sword's creation -with the help from my partner Braden.
Here is the final creation.
