Mint Sauce

Today I decided to pick some mint leaves out of the garden to make some mint sauce.

I poured the mint sauce into a clean container but it just didn't look pretty, so....... I created some labels and dressed the jar up a bit!

TV tray

Unfortunately I did not take a photograph of the television tray before I revamped it. I purchased the tray from a 2nd hand store for $2 and recovered it with scrapbooking paper, paper doilies, wallpaper and sealed it with modge podge. Here is the final product.

Ottoman fabric!

My wonderful partner Braden came with me to Spotlight (the store he dreads) and purchased some fabric to cover the old ottomans that I was given. I plan to cover the outside with the leather grain material and the inside with the cotton fabric. So exciting!

First Quilt Ever!

I started making a quilt about a month ago, after staying at my friend Katherine's house. I have stayed at her house more times then I can count and I have always been fascinated with the quilts that are around. So although I haven't really sewn before I decided that I was going to give it a go. Katherine's nana is a wonderful, creative lady who is into quilt making,  so we made a visit to her house. Before we knew it she was head first into her fabric scraps, letting me choose the fabrics that I wanted!! Such an amazing lady. The quilt has been a challenge and has taken me a long time, but I am loving it! I have finished the front of the quilt and have started to make the back.

I am trying to use the fabric that I have left over and arranging it together is like doing a massive jigsaw puzzle! I am looking forward to getting the back of the quilt finished. I have already started planning four more quilts!!!

Ottomans

I am so excited about the free Ottomans I received. They are a tad run down but a bit of TLC some new fabric and some sewing will hopefully make them look brand new again!

Revamped desk

I found a second hand school desk and chair at the salvation army for $5 and decided to give them a much needed makeover.
I started by sanding out all of the dents and graffiti. Then I brought some spray paint from Mitre ten mega and covered the wooden parts with newspaper to re-spray the legs black. I waited for these to dry then covered the legs in paper and spray painted the chair pink and the desk base blue and its lid pink. It was a hard decision to go with the bright colours - I also had a desire to go for a more natural/ antique feel.. Maybe I will have to do another set..
I have not finished the desk and chair yet, I plan to paint tiny bananas on the pink and maybe pink flamingos on the blue.. or i could create some vinyl stickers and theme it as a sewing table which I am currently using it for...

The Hobbit an unexpected journey

I was very fortunate to go to the Hobbit premiere last week and see the Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at the Embassy theatre in Wellington. It was a great day and the movie was great to watch. It did take me a while to get used to the 48 frames per second but I really appreciated the experience and how clear the movie was. Martin Freeman was exceptional at playing the young Bilbo and the beginning of the film made a perfect connection to the Lord of the Rings- The Fellowship of the Ring. The film differs in tone from LOTR, it is more fun and adventure like, but despite lacking some of the epicness it is still very enjoyable.
Well done to all the creative and technical people that helped to create such a wonderful movie!

{ ...and so it begins }

I am a creative person who has often surfed the internet for inspiration.  This inspiration has motivated me towards a whole range of creations and so, I have finally decided to start my own blog.  While this blog endeavor is really only intended to be yet another creative outlet for myself, I hope that in some way, shape, or form my creations can spark inspiration and pass my love of creating onto others.  Who knows where this blog will take me, but this is where it begins.....
